Forrest being the overachiever he is, not only rolled over on his own this week, but also decided to make pickles. He taught me how. It's very simple, the cukes first need a cold water bath. Then you need to prepare the jars...mom added some interesting things to them (grape leaves, peppercorns, dill, some even had lavender!). Then, we packed the cukes in tight. Then Forrest told us how to make the brine using salt, vinegar, & water. We added it to the jars & dunked them in the boiling water. Forrest made sure to keep a close eye on mom when she put the jars in. She insisted on passing me off the a friend for safety & then wa-la! We took the jars out & they sealed! I couldn't wait, so 2 days later I opened a jar. They are amazing, I like pickles now. Where did Forrest learn to pickle?
